The present day Salamander species are grouped under the term Urodela. They almost look like a lizard with slender bodies, short limbs at right angles to the body. Salamanders are almost extinct in the southern hemisphere and are found in the Holarctic ecozone and a few gallivanting in the Neotropical zone!

The Salamanders have the capability to regenerate and rejuvenate its lost parts! If you cut a salamander's limb, any limb; after few days, you'll just find the limb at the same place from where you cut it off!! Many researches are on this and they are hoping that this capability of salamander's to regenerate its parts, might make way to a very much needed medicine for humans!! It was discovered that immune cells called Macrophages plays the critical role in the early stage of regenerating lost limbs! It was also discovered that the Salamanders failed in regenerating its limbs when the macrophages was removed from their limbs!!
These Salamanders keep growing every time you cut them!! They don't fall so easily!
