Chess has significant origins in Armenia. From the ancient period chess has played a major role in the lives of people in Armenia. In 2011, the Armenian government declared the students from Grade 2 will be having mandatory chess classes in school periods. The government trained Chess professionals to teach them Chess in various schools. thus, it became a part of their syllabus.
The Chess Academy of Armenia, located in a suburb of Yerevan, is entirely government-funded. Dozens of young chess players, ages four and above, get advanced chess lessons. Regular tournament and stuff, Chess is a major part of the Armenian life.
