Real Madrid shut the mouth of their critics in style by winning their 10th UEFA champions league title! The final tie of the Europe's biggest league was an all Spanish-Madrid derby!! Real Madrid took on their arch-rivals Atletico Madrid in the final encounter. Atletico went forward in the 36th minute thanks to Godin's header off a corner. Even though Real Madrid dominated the game, they were goalless till the last minute! Real Madrid's effort appeared fruitful when Ramos rocked in an excellent header to deny Atletico Madrid their second silverware this season.

Atletico coach Diego Simeone, who was sent from the touchline after the fourth goal, included Diego Costa in his starting lineup despite a hamstring injury, but the gamble backfired before ten minutes had elapsed, the striker limping off. In the extra time, Real Madrid kept on adding pressure on Atletico and started to pour in goals! The demolishing started with the goal from Bale, then Marcelo burst through the goal. Finally, Ronaldo's penalty was like icing on the cake for Real Madrid! Angel Di Maria was the best man on the field, as he orchestrated Real Madrid's game-play brilliantly last midnight! Whatever happened on the field for Real Madrid was all because of their coach, Carlo Ancelotti, who emulated Bob Paisley in lifting the trophy three times as a coach!
