We all know that a year is very much longer than a day. A day is completed by one rotation of the planet and a year is completed by one revolution of the planet. But, here's a question for you. Can you imagine a day being longer than a year. In the case of our sister planet, the answer must be a yes.
Earth(after a day): completed a day?
Venus: No
Earth(after a month): Sis, you completed?
Venus: No!
Earth(after a year) : completed yet?
Venus: Yes!

So let's come back to the talk of the day: Why is a day on Venus longer than a year? Take a look at the diagram on your left. We can clearly see that the orbit of Venus is short. That is the first reason. Then, due to the gravitational pull of the sun, Venus is spurred to greater speeds, and that is the 2nd reason. And the third one's a little weird: it rotates at a speed of 6.5 Km/h. That's a great speed.
And so Venus revolves around the sun in 224 earth days and rotates in 244 earth days.
That's all folks and stay tuned!
